How To Build Your First Sales Funnel in Under 30 Minutes

You can build your first sales funnel free in under 30 minutes using a three-page structure: a sales page, an order form, and a thank you page.

The build itself is fast. What slows most beginners down is the four minutes of account setup that has to happen first, and nobody tells them about it.

Do these four things before you open the funnel builder

When we built this funnel on camera, the funnel section was the easy part. The account settings underneath it were where the time went.

Get these out of the way first and the funnel itself becomes a ten-minute job.

  • Contact Information: go to Settings and fill in your profile details. This is a hard requirement before payments will process on your funnel.
  • Payment Gateway: connect Stripe or PayPal. Several other providers are listed, but those two are the ones most beginners already have.
  • The Product: create the thing you are selling before you build the pages that sell it.
  • A Tag: one contact tag, created in advance, so buyers are labelled automatically at checkout.

The dashboard shows a reminder about the contact information when you first log in. It is easy to click past, and then wonder later why the order form will not take money.

If you do not have an account yet, you can create a free account and follow along as you read. Our own walkthrough of creating a free account without a credit card covers the signup screen in more detail.

Creating the product you are going to sell

Go to Products, then Physical products, then Create. Even if you are selling an ebook, this is where a physical product lives.

Digital products are handled differently, and we cover that below at the order form stage.

  • Name and Description: the text that will appear when you attach the product to a page.
  • Currency and Price: set both now, because changing currency later means revisiting the funnel settings too.
  • Product Image: optional, and skippable on a first build.
  • Save: that is all this screen needs. You connect it to the funnel later.

The tag that does the sorting for you

Go to Contacts, then Tags, then Create. Name it after the product, not after the funnel.

This one small step is what lets you separate buyers from browsers afterwards.

  • Buyer Segmentation: everyone who pays gets the tag, so you can email buyers separately from your general list.
  • Digital Delivery: for digital products, the tag doubles as the resource the buyer is given access to.
  • Later Automation: tags are the trigger most automation rules are built on, so creating one now saves rework.

Building the funnel shell

Go to Funnels and click Create. Three fields, then you are in.

  • Funnel Name: internal only, so plain and descriptive beats clever.
  • Domain: use the default subdomain, or connect your own. The free plan allows one custom domain, so choose carefully.
  • Currency: match the currency you set on the product.

If you want the funnel on your own domain, sort that out before you start building. Our guides on connecting a custom domain without a developer and fixing DNS errors when the domain will not connect cover the part that actually goes wrong.

Adding the sales page and getting the order right

Because you created the funnel to sell a product, two steps already exist: an order form and a thank you page. The sales page is not one of them.

Click Add step, name it, choose Sales page as the type, and save.

It will land at the bottom of the list. Drag it above the order form so the flow reads correctly.

  • Sales Page: the pitch. One button, one job.
  • Order Form: contact details and payment, pre-populated by the template.
  • Thank You Page: confirmation, and delivery if the product is digital.

Pick a template from the panel on the right. Preview shows it full size, and Change page template swaps it out if you picked wrong.

Editing a page without any design skill

Click Edit page and the drag-and-drop editor opens. The whole thing makes sense once you notice the coloured borders.

  • Sections: outlined in green, these are the full-width bands running down the page.
  • Rows and Columns: sit inside sections and control the side-by-side layout.
  • Elements: outlined in orange — headlines, paragraphs, images, buttons.

Deleting is done by hovering over the block and clicking the bin icon. We removed the template header this way in about two seconds.

To edit text, hover, select it, and type over it. Font size, line height, colour and font all sit in the right-hand sidebar.

To swap an image, click the image element, find the Image file field, upload from your device, and click Insert. Uploads come in large, so drag the sizing handle down straight away.

The one setting that makes the funnel work

Click your sales page button, open its settings, and find Action when button clicked. Set it to Go to next step.

Miss this and you have a good-looking page that leads nowhere. It is the single most common reason a first funnel fails silently.

Connecting the product to the order form

Open the order form step settings and scroll down to the product options. This is where physical and digital part company.

For a physical product, choose Physical product, pick your product from the dropdown, and save. That is the whole job.

For a digital product, choose Digital product and complete two separate sections.

  • Resource: click the plus icon and add the tag you created earlier. Courses, course bundles and communities can be attached here too.
  • Price Plan: click plus, choose One-time payment, and create a new plan.
  • Three Name Fields: the plan name shown on the order form, the name shown on your dashboard, and the descriptor shown on the customer's bank statement.
  • Amount: enter the price, then save.

Those three name fields catch people out because they look like the same question asked three times. They are not. The bank statement one matters most, because an unrecognisable descriptor is what triggers refund requests.

Click View funnel step to check it. Ours showed the ebook at $47, exactly as configured.

You can set all of this up on the free plan without entering card details.

Making the thank you page deliver the file

For a physical product, the thank you page confirms the order and sets delivery expectations.

For a digital product it does the actual delivery, and the button is what does it.

  • Button Position: move it near the top. The download is the reason they are on the page.
  • Download File: in the button action settings, choose Download file rather than a page redirect.
  • Upload: upload the file itself here, then insert it and save.
  • Secondary Asks: social follows or community invites go below the button, never above it.

Preview it once as a buyer would see it. The file should open in one click, with no login step in between.

What to deliberately leave out on your first build

We skipped upsells and downsells on camera on purpose, and you should too.

Both are added later through the same Add step button, once the simple version is proven.

  • Upsell and Downsell Pages: worth adding after the funnel has taken real money, not before.
  • Email Campaigns: built under Emails, then Campaigns, as an automated follow-up sequence.
  • Custom Domain: fine to launch on the default subdomain and move later.

A three-page funnel that is live beats a seven-page funnel still being edited.

The 30-minute version, start to finish

Fill in your contact details, connect a gateway, create the product, create the tag. Then build the funnel, add the sales page, move it to the top, point the button at the next step, attach the product to the order form, and set the thank you page to deliver.

That is the complete path to build your first sales funnel free, and none of it requires a developer or a paid plan.

Once it is live, the next thing worth having is every core marketing tool in one free account rather than a funnel sitting on its own.

Create your free account and build the three-page version today. You can add the complicated parts once it is earning.
