How to Connect a Custom Domain to Your Funnel Without a Developer

Connecting a custom domain takes about ten minutes and needs no coding. You log into your domain registrar, add two DNS records, then point your funnel at the domain inside your account settings.

If you already bought a domain from GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains, you are ready to start. If you have not bought one yet, do that first — this guide picks up right after purchase.

What a Custom Domain Actually Does

A custom domain replaces the default subdomain your funnel builder gives you. Instead of a long generic web address, visitors see your own brand name in the browser bar.

  • Trust: a branded domain looks more credible than a shared subdomain.
  • Memorability: people remember your name, not a random string of characters.
  • Consistency: your emails, social bio links, and funnel all point to the same address.

Step One: Find Your DNS Settings

Log into the account where you bought the domain. Look for a menu called DNS Management, DNS Settings, or Advanced DNS. Every registrar names this slightly differently.

This is the screen where you will add the records your funnel builder gives you. Keep this tab open in one window.

Step Two: Copy the Records From Your Funnel Builder

Inside your funnel account, go to your domain settings and choose Connect a Domain. You will be shown two pieces of information to copy.

  • A Record: a numeric IP address pointing your root domain to the funnel builder's servers.
  • CNAME Record: a text value pointing your "www" subdomain to the same servers.

Copy both exactly as shown. A single extra character breaks the connection.

Step Three: Add the Records at Your Registrar

Back in your registrar's DNS panel, add a new A record. Set the host to "@" and paste the IP address from Step Two.

Then add a new CNAME record. Set the host to "www" and paste the value from Step Two. Save both changes.

Step Four: Wait for DNS to Propagate

DNS changes are not instant. They spread across the internet over a period called propagation.

  • Typical wait: 15 minutes to 2 hours for most registrars.
  • Worst case: up to 48 hours, though this is rare in 2026.
  • Check progress: a free DNS checker tool shows whether your records have spread globally.

Do not delete or re-add the records while waiting. Repeated changes restart the propagation clock.

Step Five: Confirm the Connection in Your Funnel Builder

Return to your funnel account and click Verify Domain or a similarly labeled button. A successful check turns the status green.

If it fails, do not panic yet. The most common cause is simply that propagation has not finished. Wait 30 more minutes and try again.

A Mistake That Trips Up Most Beginners

Many people add the A record correctly but forget the CNAME record, or add it with the wrong host value. This leaves the root domain working while "www" shows an error.

Always test both versions of your address after connecting: the plain domain and the "www" version. Both should load your funnel identically.

SSL and the Padlock Icon

Most funnel builders issue a free SSL certificate automatically once the domain verifies, which adds the padlock icon and "https" to your address. This usually completes within an hour of a successful domain check.

  • No action needed: SSL is issued automatically on the free plan.
  • If it stalls: re-verifying the domain often triggers a fresh SSL attempt.

Never publish links to your funnel before the padlock appears. Visitors on an unsecured page see a browser warning that kills trust instantly.
